I realized that what would be most helpful was an in-depth discussion of the photos I'd already taken. Why isn't this in focus? Why is this in focus, but the wrong color? How do I keep this from happening? JP said this was absolutely something we could do, and thanks to Zoom and photo metadata I had an hour of really helpful instruction. JP is a natural teacher with the ability to share technical and aesthetic knowledge simply and patiently. To fine tune his explanations to settings on my camera, he downloaded the manual for it before our session so he could give me specific instructions. He is tremendously attentive to a student's interests and desires.
